Pillar Creek

Mission:  Educate the community through informational materials, training and other activities about the health, social, environmental and economic benefits of trails and public access.

Project Dates:  April 2007

Summary:
ITN's first marine debris clean-up, just months after our inception. Over 60 volunteers helped pick up litter, plastics & derelict fishing gear blown in from offshore. Magnetic rakes and a large trailer-magnet were used to extract over 400 lbs nails and other metals buried in the sands. Large 4x4 sport trucks from Emerald Isle Off-Road removed two derelict vehicles, helping to reclaim this valuable recreational area into something the community can once again be proud of.
