Kodiak Mountain Series Trail Improvement

Kodiak Mountain Series 2025

In 2025 We did trail improvements for the KMS
We worked on Heitman, Pyramid and Sharatin

In preparation for the inaugural Kodiak Mountain Series in 2025, Island Trails Network teamed up with the race directors to give the course a little trail love.

Our volunteers and board rolled up their sleeves and logged 453 volunteer hours of trail work before race day, mostly building new bridges and boardwalks to help keep feet dry over some of the trail’s soggier stretches.

The Kodiak Mountain Series also set aside 10 race bibs for local high school students, who earned their spot on the start line by volunteering 10 hours on the trails.

Marcus Dunbar and the high school trail crew also kicked off their trail season in  June working on these routes, clearing brush and improving tread, helping prepare the course ahead of race day.

These well-traveled routes were long overdue for some TLC—especially since they’re part of the Discover Kodiak “Adjust Your Altitude” Seven Summits Challenge. Safe to say the trails—and the community—showed up strong.
